About the role
This Senior Technician role is to provide effective technical support for research and teaching in the MCE/ABE departments with a specific focus on chemical and nanocomposites work. The role holder will work within a dynamic and multi-skilled technical team to support research and teaching activity within the department.
The Senior Technician will be responsible for the operation, maintenance and development of facilities in our new laboratory specialising in the creation and testing of nanocomposite materials supporting students and staff in their learning and research. They will work closely with academic colleagues to develop safe and robust processes for working with hazardous materials.

About the team
The MCE/ABE technical team are responsible for to day-to-day operation and safety of a range of laboratories, workshops and studios in the Faculty of Engineering and Environment. They work closely with academic colleagues to provide and excellent student experience through their support of teaching and research activity.
Abot you
To be successful in the role you will have experience of operating a wide range of manufacturing equipment, specifically in the areas of additive manufacturing and be confident teaching the us of it. You will be qualified to degree level or equivalent professional experience in one or more of the practice-based subjects offered by the Faculty. You will be able to effectively work both independently and as part of a team and have excellent inter-personal skills. It is essential to have an in depth knowledge of current health and safety legislation and to promote a positive attitude towards it.
