The Role
The Foundation Diploma in Art, Design & Media Practice sits at the heart of Kingston School of Art, where the course delivers the conceptual, practical and technical skills to showcase students’ strengths and creative direction. Students develop insight and understanding across the fields of art and design to define what they want to study further on degree programmes at university or beyond.
This role of Lecturer will be an integral part of the Foundation teaching team and will actively contribute their expertise to the existing 3D Design specialism. You would be building upon the existing excellent practice in teaching and learning, and the reputation and track record of the Foundation course and its 3D Design pathway. This role will be expected to engage in pastoral care of a diverse range of students, differing degrees of academic leadership, management and administration and to maintain relationships within the Department, School, Faculty and University.
You will contribute to the provision of high-quality Further Education teaching, research, knowledge exchange and/or professional activity, initially as a member of the Foundation teaching team and in collaboration with others throughout the University, to the benefit of a diverse range of students and colleagues. To contribute to the University’s objective of securing an outstanding reputation for research-informed learning, innovation and integrated academic practice.
The Person
You will be expected to demonstrate your commitment to professional development, displaying respect for colleagues and students alike and seeking opportunities to increase the effectiveness of the student experience and their integrated academic practice.
Above all else we are looking for a highly motivated individual with a creative approach, a people centred work ethic and passion and interest in teaching and education, with the potential to develop innovative, sustainable and inclusive approaches to three dimensional, spatial and architectural design, within our studios and beyond to impact future creative industries. The role encourages a desire to develop the 3D curriculum, to focus on material and conceptual exploration, process driven thinking and a socially driven aspiration for innovation.
We welcome applicants who can bring something unique yet inclusive to the team. We actively welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds and are committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, nationality, religion, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age or disability.
