Cambridge Digital Humanities (CDH) wishes to recruit an Associate Professor/Professor in Cambridge Digital Humanities from January 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The appointment may be made at either Associate Professor (Grade 10) or Professor (Grade 11) level. Applications are welcome at both of these levels, and the eventual grade of appointment will be commensurate to the appointee's experience and standing in the field.

CDH is a thriving research centre crossing multiple faculties in the School of Arts and Humanities and School of Humanities and Social Sciences. It has a formal affiliation to CRASSH and strong associations with Cambridge's University Library, Museums and Collections. CDH designs, teaches, and runs a multi-disciplinary MPHIL and doctoral programme in Digital Humanities, with these courses supported and formally governed by the Faculty of English.

We particularly welcome applicants with specialisms in Digital History/Mapping, Critical Data Studies, Archive and Memory Studies, Digital Media Arts, Environmental Humanities, AI/Digital Visual Culture.

The successful candidate will take on the role of Deputy Director of CDH on appointment (undertaken on a rotational basis). They will assist in leading the Centre, undertake associated roles in taught programmes and in research training programmes, and may take on the Directorship role to cover research sabbaticals.

Candidates will conduct original research with international reach and significance. They will publish widely at the appropriate level and will demonstrate their capacity to collaborate to attract major external funding. They will have significant teaching experience and experience of academic and research leadership roles.  

Contingent on your specialist research areas and home disciplines, the appointee will also have a reporting line to one of the University's other Faculties or Departments, to which they may also be expected to make a contribution.
