About the role

The Oxford University Museum of Natural History is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, business-minded Events Manager with a passion for culture and heritage to run its busy events department, including managing and growing the thriving venue hire business.

The Museum of Natural History is renowned as a venue for exciting and diverse events. The management and delivery of over 160 internally- and externally-hosted events per year is a significant activity which bears directly upon the public reputation of the Museum as well as generating an essential source of revenue which supports core activities.

Working closely with clients, managing the Deputy Events Manager and the events delivery team, and reporting to the Head of Operations, the role will work on the planning and execution of a diverse range of events, including corporate, internal, and social events, conferences, weddings, and events for other University departments, art associations and charities, as well as supporting the development and logistics of in-house public engagement events. The role requires a flexible approach to working hours, with regular evening and weekend work.

This is a full-time, permanent role, working 37.5 hours per week on-site.

About You

The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, meticulous attention to detail and be able to demonstrate experience of leading a team to ensure the smooth running of event operations at similarly high-end venues. They will be a proven team player, committed to working collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders in a changing context, remaining calm throughout.
