We are the University of Cumbria, for and from Cumbria and our localities, rooted in serving our communities, with people, place and partnership at our heart.
Now is a very exciting time to be joining us because we are delivering a new "Towards 2030" strategic plan focused on making the most of our three most valuable assets; People, Place and Partnerships, to become a catalyst for economic well-being for our region, nationally and internationally.
The University of Cumbria is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and knowledgeable academic to join our Photography team within the Institute of Education, Arts and Society.
As part of a small, dedicated team, the successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, learning, and the student experience. We are looking for an individual with substantial experience in both digital and analogue photography, with the ability to teach in studio and on-location settings. A demonstrable engagement with emerging technologies and contemporary photographic practices is highly desirable.
You will contribute to curriculum design, teaching, learning, and assessment across all levels of the programme (Levels 3–6). A strong understanding of the critical and contextual debates surrounding photographic practice is essential.
We are particularly interested in candidates with professional experience in the photographic industry, who can bring valuable industry insights, networks, and potential collaborations into the student learning environment. Evidence of commercial or published practice will be considered an advantage.
The University is committed to fostering a supportive research culture. Applicants who are research-active and/or engaged in knowledge exchange activities are encouraged to apply. The post includes an annual allocation of Research and Scholarly Activity leave.
