The department of Earth Sciences, University of Oxford seeks to appoint a part-time (60% FTE) Oxford Climate Research Network (OCRN) Coordinator. The Oxford Climate Research Network is a network of all climate researchers at the University of Oxford. The goal of the network is to raise the impact, effectiveness and profile of climate research at the University of Oxford, by acting as an internal hub as well as a coordinated point of contact and information for those beyond Oxford. The OCRN coordinator’s role is to develop and administer initiatives which maintain, strengthen and promote the network.
The successful post holder will organise a variety of networking events, as well as termly steering group meetings and lunches to bring together climate researchers across the breadth of the OCRN network. They will also prepare termly reports, keep minutes of meetings, maintain the database of network members and manage the OCRN annual budget.
Liaising with university communication officers, promoting research conducted by OCRN researchers via the OCRN website and taking charge of social media accounts and internal information distribution are just some of the key responsibilities associated with this great opportunity. The OCRN Coordinator will acquire and maintain an overview of climate-related research at the University of Oxford, seek opportunities for OCRN researchers to collaborate, and connect individuals, research groups and initiatives wherever appropriate.
The OCRN coordinator will report to the Steering Group which decides the priorities for the network. They will meet regularly with the network’s Academic Convener (who is Chair of the Steering Group) and are expected to help shape, and provide support for, new initiatives as they arise.
