Research Fellow

The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is one of the world’s leading public health universities. We are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow to join the environmental epidemiology research team at LSHTM to work on the new HEARTH project: National hub on net zero, health and extreme heat, which is funded by UKRI and NIHR. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a large multidisciplinary collaboration between LSHTM and Oxford Brookes University (lead partner), UCL, LSE, University of Leeds, University of Edinburgh, and a wide network of UK stakeholders.  

Candidates should have post-graduate degree, ideally a doctoral degree, in a relevant topic, with a background in epidemiology, public health, health economics or similar, and have knowledge of public health and climate policy priorities for the UK. Candidates should also be experienced in conducting impact evaluations of public health interventions and applying spatio-temporal epidemiologic and/or social science methods, ideally to environmental health data, and conducting systematic reviews and meta-analysis. The post is full-time 35 hours per week, 1.0 FTE and fixed term for 3 years.

The post is funded by the NIHR and UKRI and is available immediately from a mutually agreed date.

The salary will be on the LSHTM salary scale, Grade 6 in the range £45,097 - £51,156 per annum pro rata (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at LSHTM.
