We are seeking to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic and focused Laboratory Manager. The Laboratory Manager will be involved in supporting the day-to-day running of their allocated laboratories and to foster a safe and productive working environment. They will be responsible for ensuring that the laboratories they manage are safe and efficient places to work and operate in line with School policies and processes.
The post holder will manage two assistant Laboratory Managers, work as part of a team with other Laboratory Managers and with academic staff who conduct research in the laboratory. This role will be critical in the support of research, and they will liaise with senior research leaders (PIs) to manage space, resources, rotas and training to ensure research can be carried out safely and effectively.
The successful applicant will have a background in biological science and a good understanding of the necessary groundwork required in managing the day-to-day support and maintenance of research-active immunology-based laboratories, experience of working independently and managing priorities whilst also being an active member of a team. The post is full-time and permanent. The salary will be on the LSHTM salary scale, Grade 6 in the range £45,097 - £51,156 per annum pro rata (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. The post is based in London at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
