The Postgraduate Admissions Office has 24 staff and co-ordinates the processing of around 35,000 postgraduate applications for doctoral research and masters courses each year; providing expert admissions advice and support for over 100 departments and faculties in the University and 31 Cambridge colleges with whom the office liaises closely to ensure a quality service delivery.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a supportive and busy team in a central University office that provides a key service to all departments and colleges, as well as to applicants from all over the world.
About the Role
The post holder will act as the main point of contact in the office for admissions policies and procedures relating to fee status assessments, application fee waivers and funding. They will work closely with Departments, Faculties, Colleges and Funders, internal and external, to ensure that the administration for the admission of applicants is efficient, and that processes and policies are robust and well communicated. The role holder will also take on additional specialist areas as required, particularly international qualifications equivalencies.
As Admissions Administrators, and as part of the wider team, you will also be responsible for carrying out the quality assurance checking and offer making process for all applicants; processing documentation submitted as evidence to meet offer conditions; confirming applicants' admission once all offer conditions have been satisfactorily met; and processing the CAS for students requiring visas.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication and customer orientated skills, and experience of providing a timely and high-quality administrative service, preferably in higher education. You should have the ability to digest, understand and communicate policy, scrutinise documentation, have an excellent eye for detail, be able to work independently to complete work to tight deadlines, and to use your own initiative and judgment.
Interested applicants for this post should be educated to HND/HNC level (or have equivalent relevant experience), have a good knowledge of MS Office, and be willing to learn new skills.
