University of the Arts London (UAL) is seeking a skilled and proactive Financial Accountant to join our high-performing team and help deliver exceptional financial services across our vibrant and diverse university community.
This is an exciting opportunity to take on a pivotal role in the financial operations of one of the world’s leading institutions for art, design, fashion, and communication. As a Financial Accountant, you will be central to the integrity of UAL’s financial reporting - overseeing key balance sheet control accounts, managing monthly payroll journals, and ensuring timely and accurate reconciliation of payroll-related balances.
Working across month-end, quarter-end, and year-end processes, you’ll collaborate with colleagues across departments to provide insightful, accurate financial information to internal and external stakeholders. You’ll also support the University’s trading subsidiaries — such as UAL Arts Temps Ltd.
This is a varied and hands-on role where your technical expertise will directly support operational excellence, process improvement, and high standards of financial compliance. You will contribute to external audit readiness, assist in budget forecasting, and play an active role in risk management and internal audit support.
With scope to influence and improve financial processes, and to work across diverse areas including capital, endowment, and payroll reconciliations, this role offers a unique opportunity to grow your professional impact in a creative, world-class university environment.
Your profile
We're looking for someone who is either fully qualified or currently working towards a CCAB-recognised professional accounting qualification, with a proven track record of managing large data sets and reconciling complex financial records.
