This post is being offered to develop expertise in the design and delivery of commercial studies within General Practice, specifically within the East Midlands Region. Funded by the National Institute for Health and Social Care Research School for Primary Care Research (NIHR SPCR), you will represent the University of Nottingham and the wider East Midlands region in forming the development of a national cohort of GP Commercial Research Fellows to increase capacity and delivery of commercial research in Primary Care settings.  

The major purpose of this role is to provide ring fenced time to work with key regional partners (including the Research Delivery Network, Commercial Research Delivery Centres, local NHS trusts and Integrated Care Boards) to promote and support the uptake of the commercial research portfolio and develop expertise in the design and delivery of commercial studies in primary care settings. 

You will be an established practising General Practitioner in the East Midlands, with the ability to demonstrate established connections with an appropriate partner institution such as a GP practice with an established commercial research portfolio, the NIHR Research Delivery Network, an NIHR Commercial Research Delivery Centre etc.  

You will join an established team, led by Prof Joe Kai, Lead for the University of Nottingham SPCR Department. Academic support will be provided by members of the NIHR SPCR, both nationally and through the host department of Centre for Academic Primary Care in LPH at the University of Nottingham. The role holder will have access to wider NIHR SPCR training resources and be part of the wider Fellows network, which will form a peer-support group, working with an experienced academic to enhance their career development. 

Hours of work are 7.7 per week (0.2)FTE and will be offered on a fixed term contract to 31st December 2026.
