The Pandemic Sciences Institute in the Nuffield Department of Medicines seeking to appoint a Senior Programme Support and Knowledge Exchange Officer. This is a new role with significant potential for impact. You will support the development, coordination and implementation of several programmes within the Africa Pandemic Sciences Collaborative, a large and high-profile initiative delivered in partnership with Science for Africa Foundation and Mastercard Foundation. You will also be responsible for developing synergies between the Collaborative and the award-winning Africa-Oxford Initiative (AfOx).
You will work closely with collaborators at SFA Foundation to deliver several programmes. These are anticipated to include (i) a leadership training programme in pandemic sciences, preparedness and response, (ii) research and innovation fellowships, (iii) a fund for catalyst awards, and (iv) an initiative to facilitate exchanges within the EPSILON community.
In addition, you will support the Senior Programme Manager and wider team at PSI and SFA Foundation to develop and lead activities to connect AfOx with the Collaborative. This will include scoping and implementing opportunities for Ubuntu periods of service and for visiting fellowships within PSI, SFA Foundation, and the EPSILONs. In conjunction with the AfOx team you will also identify and implement new opportunities for collaboration, securing buy-in from senior stakeholders.
It is essential that you are educated to degree level in a relevant scientific, social science, or policy discipline. You should also have experience working on the African continent or with Africa-based organisations and networks, including building and maintaining credibility with senior stakeholders. You will bring experience working collaboratively in resource-constrained settings, this should include strong interpersonal skills and the ability to operate effectively in complex, sensitive, and changing environments, navigating power dynamics and adapting to shifting priorities.
