We are a world class research-intensive university. We deliver teaching and learning of the highest quality. We play a leading role in economic, social and cultural development of the North East of England. Attracting and retaining high-calibre people is fundamental to our continued success.
The Role
The School of Geography, Politics and Sociology seeks to appoint a fixed-term Lecturer (T&S) in International Public Policy & Diplomacy.
The Politics Unit in the School of Geography, Politics and Sociology is home to a diverse and friendly community of staff and students, committed to world-leading research and excellent, innovative teaching. We conduct interdisciplinary and methodologically diverse public policy and international politics research and teach international politics and public policy at all degree levels.
We're based in the newly refurbished Henry Daysh Building, bringing our school community closer together.
You will contribute to teaching on our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. You will deliver the specialised Stage 2 UG module POL2310 ‘International Organizations and Diplomacy' and provide crucial teaching capacity for compulsory team-taught modules at PGT level, including POL8072 ‘Public Policy in Practice: from the Local to the Global'. You will also advise UG and PGT dissertations and final year projects.
You will have experience of teaching undergraduates and/or postgraduates. Ideally, you will have a track record of innovative teaching practice, including the use of simulations. Beyond classroom instruction, you will help us establish further strategic partnerships with public and civic organisations to strengthen Politics' distinctive experiential learning offerings.
You will have a track-record of publications in public policy in high impact journals and other outlets commensurate with your career stage. You will be collegial and keen to develop your academic career in a collaborative environment that values and supports teaching, research, and engagement.
