The Mathematical Institute is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and exceptionally well-organised Research Group Assistant; the post is permanent, on a full-time basis.
This is an exciting opportunity to support our Research Groups within applied mathematics, primarily Mathematical Finance, Stochastic Analysis and OXPDE, working with academics of the highest calibre to provide administrative and secretarial support. This may include diary management for the Head of Research Group; making complex UK and international travel arrangements; some budget management; and maintaining the research group webpages. You will also act as the first point of contact for all enquiries from within and outside the research group.
Reporting through to the Senior Research Group Assistant, you will work closely with a variety of academic, research and professional services colleagues, as well as with students and visitors. As such, you must be an excellent communicator, who is able to develop good working relationships with a wide range of people. You will also have a good understanding of general administrative practices and procedures, ideally including basic financial administration, and be able to manage and prioritise a varied and busy workload to meet deadlines.
We proudly hold a departmental Athena SWAN Silver Award and an institutional Race Equality Charter Bronze Award, which guide our progress towards advancing racial and gender equality. As part of our strategic aim to improve staff equality and diversity, we would particularly welcome applications from BME candidates, who are currently under-represented in positions of this type within the department.
