About the role:
Applications are encouraged for two Research Fellow posts to work within the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Imperial College London in developing a new research strategy. As part of this strategy, we have identified four research themes that span grand societal and technical challenges that are also areas in which we believe our department will continue to make substantial research contributions to over the next five years. We will be launching research programmes for each of these themes, with the aim of bringing together researchers from different disciplines across Civil and Environmental Engineering, as well as across Imperial and beyond to deliver world-leading, transformative research which addresses these challenges. Please refer to the job description for full details on each of the themes.
What you would be doing:
You will join a small cohort of Departmental Research Fellows that carry out independent research. In addition, you will support the development of new research programmes and proposals related to one, or more, of the research theme areas. You may also undertake elements of related teaching.
We are looking to appoint fellows in support of the each of the following research themes:
Your role will be to conduct research in your area and to work collaboratively within at least one of the two research themes in collaboration with academic, research, and professional services staff to establish research programmes within that theme. Working with the Director of Research and Theme Leads, you will be able to lead the planning and delivery of independent research. You will be expected to identify gaps and research opportunities aligned with both the Department’s portfolio of research activities and broader industrial needs. In addition, your role might involve supporting existing initiatives, organising workshops, proposal development and writing.
