We are a world class research-intensive university. We deliver teaching and learning of the highest quality. We play a leading role in economic, social and cultural development of the North East of England. Attracting and retaining high-calibre people is fundamental to our continued success.
The Role
The main purpose of this role is to apply innovative statistical methodology relevant to clinical trials. The postholder will be a member of the Biostatistics Research Group (BRG) and will seek opportunities to expand and develop the group through a range of mechanisms.
The person will collaborate on new and existing clinical trials projects led by teams within and beyond the Faculty, being fully involved in the design, funding, conduct and analysis of the work. Generally, this will involve supervision and line- management of colleagues.
The BRG provides statistical expertise to a large portfolio of ongoing clinical trials and observational studies, working closely with the Newcastle Clinical trials Unit and the NIHR Research Support Service. The BRG has significant strengths in both applied and methodological medical research.
The BRG provides statistical teaching and supervision within the Faculty and for statistical and data science MSc programmes. At Lecturer level, you would be expected to play an active role in the delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate education. You would also be expected to submit and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects and supervise PhD students.
The University has developed an Academic Job Summary Guidance document which summarises the range of activities that academic colleagues may be expected to perform.
