The role
This is an exciting opportunity for a GP with an interest in skin and infection research to join the Centre for Applied Excellence in Skin & Allergy Research (CAESAR). CAESAR is a multi-disciplinary group of 16 people dedicated to meeting the needs of people skin and/or allergy problems. Part of the Centre for Academic Primary Care – within Population Health Sciences in Bristol Medical School – it has a dedicated programme manager and administrator to support team members deliver an ambitious and exciting programme of work.
What will you be doing?
This post will provide initially up to one year funded time for a GP to pursue their research interests in the interface between skin and infection, developing proposals to secure research funding, and publishing research findings in peer-reviewed journals. The successful applicant will split their time between academic work at the University of Bristol, and clinical service commitment. The post-holder will be employed by the University of Bristol, and arrange or hold a separate clinical contract for an appropriate post within an ICB.

The successful candidate will be capable, hard-working, motivated, able to take responsibility and work on their own initiative as well as within a team. You will have excellent knowledge of skin and/or infection, with experience of conducting and publishing high-quality research in primary care. You will have contributed to research proposal development and/or delivery of successful funding bids.You will be able to manage your own workload and deliver projects on time. You will have the ability to employ excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate complex ideas to a range of audiences. You will have experience of teaching and an enthusiasm for teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students.
