A Clinical Research Fellow (CRF) position in the Nuffield Department of Women’s and Reproductive Health (WRH) is available to start from September 2025. The post is an excellent opportunity for candidates interested in acquiring experience of research in a world-class academic unit (see http://www.wrh.ox.ac.uk).

The post supports a Phase III programme of work aimed at testing and validating the feasibility of a full ultrasound image analysis pipeline for the extraction of volumetric assessment of the fetal brain using point-of-care ultrasound devices.

The post holder will play a key role in acquiring 2D ultrasound video scans, including from maternal abdomen phantoms and clinical participants, in accordance with standardised protocols (e.g., the INTERGROWTH-21st protocol). These data will support the development and evaluation of an AI-guided 3D reconstruction framework that recommends image acquisition strategies in real time. The post holder will also be involved in clinical study design, data analysis, and may contribute to scientific publications.

The CRF will work closely with the broader multidisciplinary team, including postdoctoral researchers in biomedical engineering and computer vision, to ensure consistency in data acquisition, effective communication, and clinically relevant interpretation of results.

You will hold a Certificate/Diploma (as appropriate) in Medical Ultrasound (CMU/DMU) or Post Graduate Certificate in Medical Ultrasound (PGCert.MU) with qualifications relevant to obstetric scanning. You will have up to date ICH GCP training or willingness to undertake training, demonstrable prior experience in obstetric ultrasound and a basic understanding of research methodology. The ability to work within a team and communicate effectively is also essential.

This post is full-time for 21 months.

Applications for flexible working arrangements are welcomed and will be considered in line with business needs.

You will be required to upload a CV and Supporting Statement as part of your online application. Click here for information and advice on writing an effective Supporting Statement: https://www.jobs.ox.ac.uk/cv-and-supporting-statement

The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on Monday, 1 September 2025. Interviews will take place on Friday, 12 September 2025. Successful applicants will be notified by Friday 5 September 2025 if they have been shortlisted for interview.

IMPORTANT: Please note that this role does not meet the salary threshold required to obtain sponsorship for a Skilled Worker visa, however, applications are welcome from candidates who do not currently have the right to work in the UK but who would be eligible to obtain a visa via another route.
