The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) is one of the world’s leading social science universities. Our mission is to shape the world through research, education, and public engagement. As we advance our ambitious Shaping the World Campaign, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced fundraising professional to join our Philanthropy and Global Engagement (PAGE) division.

In November 2021, LSE publicly launched a major new philanthropy Campaign – Shaping the World – to underpin the LSE 2030 goals. Over 50% of our £750 million Campaign goal has already been raised during the leadership phase, generating huge momentum within the School and among our global network of supporters. There couldn’t be a better moment to join us.

These essential roles will sit within LSE’s Philanthropy and Global Engagement Division (PAGE) which serves, engages and works in partnership with alumni and friends, staff and students, volunteers, donors, global partners, organisations and the wider community to further the strategic aims of the School. These reciprocal relationships increase engagement with LSE across the world and increase philanthropic income and strategic partnerships for agreed School priorities.

We are recruiting for two roles, Philanthropy Manager (North America) and Philanthropy Manager (UK and Europe) These roles will be working alongside a Senior Philanthropy Manager in delivering the Philanthropy team’s fundraising strategy within key international regions, providing in-country expertise to colleagues across the team. They will join a dynamic and growing team and will play an essential role by increasing income generation in support of the Campaign’s fundraising priorities.

We are inviting applications for both roles through one joint application process. You will be able to indicate your preferred role at interview stage, but will be considered for both.

The Role

Successful candidates will:

  • Personally solicit major gifts (c.£100k - £1m) and pledges to an agreed target, as part of the Philanthropy team’s annual income target
  • Support the Senior Philanthropy Manager to design and implement strategies to secure major gifts, with a focus on international fundraising
  • Be responsible for at least one LSE Campaign priority and fundraising at the six-figure level in at least one key international region.

The Candidate

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.
  • A sustained track record of securing high four and five figure gifts.
  • Experience of working within a results-oriented environment, with a record of exceeding personal KPIs and targets.
  • Experience of working with and staffing senior institutional leaders as part of cultivation and solicitation of high value donor prospects.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.

We offer an occupational pension scheme, generous annual leave, hybrid working, and excellent training and development opportunities.
