Job description:
We have an exciting opportunity to join us as a Senior Research Technician in the School of Psychology at the University of Sheffield.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and delivering the highest quality technical expertise and support for teaching and research. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this is a key role which will work flexibly across our four buildings, sometimes multiple buildings in the same day, delivering expert technical and operational assistance and support for digital learning.
You will be responsible for the maintenance of the school’s research equipment including experimental hardware and other operational logistics such as room bookings for our research facilities. You will provide the technical support for our British Psychological Society (BPS) accredited courses specifically including our BSc in Psychology, along with wider contributions across our PGT and PGR programmes. This post will assist students setting up experiments and/or statistical analysis related enquiries.
We are looking to recruit a well organised individual, with a strong understanding of relevant legislation, including Health and Safety, as well as contributing to the acquisition and maintenance of research equipment, contributing to the School’s ambitions in the Research Excellence Framework (REF) and Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF).
Applicants should be educated to BSc (Hons) level in Psychology or related discipline or experience equivalent to Level 6 (degree) qualification in relevant field with proven vocation skills in line with the job description. This role involves knowing safety procedures, laws, and holding certifications like IOSH Managing Safely and First Aid.
