The Department of Neuromuscular Diseases is a hub for clinical and research excellence across the spectrum of spinal cord and neuromuscular diseases. Our group of world-leading clinical, genetic and basic science researchers focus their work on understanding the causes and biological mechanisms leading to neuromuscular disease and translating this knowledge into developing novel therapeutic solutions that is of direct benefit to neurological disorders such as motor neurone disease, Alzheimer’s disease and neuromuscular disease.
Based within the Department is the Centre for Neuromuscular Diseases (CNMD), which combines neuromuscular translational research and comprehensive NHS clinical services and nationally commissioned services for a wide range of neuromuscular diseases.
We are seeking a Database Manager/Trials Coordinator to be responsible for several databases in inherited neuropathies, especially Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT), and for coordinating a new multicentre trial readiness programme, TRANSFORM-CMT, led by Professor Mary Reilly.
You will work alongside our research nurse to support data entry into our databases and will be responsible for setting up and managing the database for the new TRANSFORM-CMT study. You will also collate and manage regulatory documentation to ensure that research activities comply with international and UK regulations, as well as local governance requirements.
Key duties will include preparing ethics and R&D submissions, coordinating with UK trial centres and clinical research facilities, supporting audits and inspections, and disseminating study-related information. The role also includes liaising with research sites across the UK and coordinating patient visits to UCL.
The role is available from 01 October 2025 and funded for one year until 30 September 2026 in the first instance, with the possibility of extension for up to four years.

You will have a degree (or equivalent) in a subject related to biomedical sciences, or substantial relevant experience in clinical trial data management and/or trial coordination. Experience of managing databases containing clinical or patient information and working in a medical or clinical research environment is essential, as is an understanding of ethical issues related to clinical research and patient involvement. You’ll also have excellent communication, teamworking, and interpersonal skills, with strong attention to detail.
Starting salary offered with salary in the range of at £43,981 - £45,103 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
