About the role:
The Faculty of Medicine is seeking to appoint a Teaching Fellow to join the team teaching the BSc Medical Biosciences programme (BMB) and contribute to the development and future delivery of a new MSci in Medical Science & Innovation. BMB is a highly successful 3-year undergraduate science degree utilising blended teaching approaches including our teaching labs (known as Lab Pods), which mimics a research laboratory from Year 1. For the new MSci will contribute to the development of innovative teaching sessions, develop programme resources and support teaching and learning opportunities including course evaluations. There are opportunities to further develop your teaching portfolio and interests across our undergraduate and post-graduate programmes. You will work collaboratively with academic, technical and professional services staff to help design and deliver a high-quality learning opportunities for students.
Duties and responsibilities:
A key element of this role will be working alongside our enthusiastic and high-performing team to deliver teaching and supervising BSc Medical Biosciences (BMB) students in the Lab Pod modules. These take place in state-of-the-art teaching labs as students explore a research hypothesis; your role will be to take responsibility for leading laboratory sessions. You will also record student attendance, mark assessments and provide useful, timely and constructive feedback as well as monitor student progress, and escalate issues as and when they arise. In addition to teaching in Lab Pods, you will be supporting the teaching and assessment in one of the theoretical modules.
Another aspect of the role will be making effective contributions to the design, delivery, and evaluation of a new undergraduate science and innovation programme, incorporating evidence-based blended learning pedagogy.
