About the role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Assistant Library Officer to join our friendly and collaborative Content & Discovery team.
This role primarily supports the Print Content Librarian and Metadata & Discovery Officer in managing the Library’s teaching and research print collections, as well as cataloguing a wide range of library materials, both online and physical. You will play a key role in stock review, cataloguing, and reclassification projects, and will also have the opportunity to contribute to other areas of the wider team’s work.
In addition, you will provide support across the Library, Culture and Heritage division, assisting users both online, via our library chat service, and in person at service desks.
About you
You will have strong organisational and planning skills. Your excellent interpersonal and communication abilities enable you to work effectively with colleagues and library users, both in person and in writing. You will be confident in working independently, as well as collaboratively within a small team, and you are proficient in using IT systems, particularly Microsoft Office, to manage your workload efficiently.
You will have experience in using computer systems for records management, demonstrating a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Ideally, you will also have experience in maintaining physical stock and cataloguing or metadata management, or the ability to develop the skills on the job. Previous experience in a library or higher education environment would be advantageous.
