The Department has a substantial research programme, with major funding from Medical Research Council (MRC), Wellcome Trust and National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and provides highly rated medical training in psychiatry. The Head of Department is Professor Belinda Lennox.
We are seeking a Clinical Researcher to join the Immune-Metabolic and Severe Mental Illness group in the Department of Psychiatry, University of Oxford
About the Role
The post is funded until 31 March 2028 for and is full-time. It is based in the Department of Psychiatry at the Warneford Hospital.
This post is available on a flexible hybrid basis with the postholder expected to be available to work on site for a minimum of 3 days per week.
Reporting to Professor Rachel Upthegrove this postholder will work across a number of projects supported by NIHR and UKRI funding, together with the Oxford Health Biomedical Research Centre (OH-BRC) Molecular Targets Theme. The post holder will be a key member of the group working within the broad aim of developing evidence for novel treatment targets, repurposed therapeutics and stratified subgroups of patients with severe mental illness.
A strong collaborative approach is essential, and the ability to work with colleagues across disciplines. In addition to establishing new collaborations at the University of Oxford, a key role will be working closely with the University of Birmingham Psychosis research group, also supported by the Oxford Health BRC.
About You
You will be a clinically qualified doctor with some experience of psychiatry. A relevant PhD/DPhil e.g. in neuroscience together with relevant experience would be desirable. Demonstrable experience of advanced multimodal data analysis e.g., fluid-based biomarkers (genomic, proteomic or inflammatory markers) is essential as is the ability to manage your own academic research and associated activities. Experience within the psychosis topic area and working in clinical trials and/or experimental medicine studies would be desirable
