Faculty Education Services provides coordinated services for students, staff & partner providers, enabling the delivery of education through managing quality, programme, placement, digital education and assessment administration and support for more than 100 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and supports over 7000 students.

This is your opportunity to join our Digital Education Team as a Senior Digital Education Officer in a fast-paced and vibrant environment.

About the role

The Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine seeks to appoint a Senior Digital Education Officer to join its Digital Education Team. This role focuses on the design, setup, and configuration of online assessments, while also providing daily digital education support. Responsibilities also include support of blended learning and teaching activity, and routine VLE (Moodle) administration, advice & guidance to facilitate the delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the Faculty, including staff support and training.

Candidates should possess a degree in e-learning, computer science, a related field, or have equivalent work experience. Essential qualifications include proven ability in providing TEL (technology enhanced learning) and VLE support; delivering staff development training in these areas, and a track record of utilising TEL within higher education context.

This is a full time post (35 hours per week), currently operating a hybrid working model, 2 days a week minimum on campus. and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  • Degree in Technology Enhanced Learning, Education or equivalent experience
  • Excellent IT skills (Microsoft 365, VLE assessment tools or similar)
  • Strong communication skills, in particular when conveying complex information to a lay/non-expert audience
  • Producing learning /training materials for different audiences
  • Experience of using and providing 1st line support for Moodle or equivalent VLE
  • Knowledge, experience and skills of delivering training and providing support to academic and professional services staff
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, including and not restricted to accessibility and data protection
  • Ability to work under pressure, balance competing priorities and meeting deadlines

Desirable criteria

  • Experience in multimedia production (e.g. podcasting, vodcasting, lecture capture, screencasts)
  • Supporting and/or managing projects through to completion
  • Able to proactively problem solve and set and meet personal targets and to participate in the setting and meeting of group targets
  • Evidence of a commitment to continuous professional development
