We are seeking a motivated, adaptable individual with strong team-working skills to join the Department of Civil Engineering. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, with a primary focus on modules related to construction management and quantity surveying. However, there may also be a requirement to support teaching across other areas of civil engineering, depending on departmental needs. This post is based at Aston University’s main campus, although occasional travel may be required to support teaching activities at off-campus and international partner institutions.
We place a strong emphasis on student engagement, project-based learning, and graduate employability. As such, excellent communication and organisational skills, combined with a genuine commitment to inspiring and inclusive teaching, are essential. The ability to contribute to innovative approaches in course delivery, assessment, and curriculum development will be highly valued.
Applicants should hold a PhD in a relevant discipline, along with teaching experience in civil engineering and/or construction-related areas. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a strong research profile that aligns with the department’s existing research strengths, while also establishing a leading reputation in their own area of expertise.
We are striving to develop a strong research group in the Sustainable Infrastructure Engineering and Management theme and collaborate closely with the three research institutes in the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences (EPS). For further information, please visit the dedicated institute webpage.
Industrial experience and professional qualification or working towards professional qualification will be highly desirable.
