About the Role
Join an exciting collaboration between Coffee Afrik CIC and Queen Mary University of London's Health Equity Evidence Centre as Research Assistant in Health Equity. This unique position combines academic research with community action, supporting young people to lead peer research into violence prevention and mental health. You'll coordinate a programme employing 10 young people as PAC Leads, supporting them through research design, data collection, analysis and dissemination. Working 2 days at Abernethy Building, Whitechapel and 3 days at Coffee Afrik's Youth Hub, you'll receive weekly supervision from senior academics. This role offers the opportunity to make a real difference while advancing your research career in health equity and social justice.
About You
We're looking for a researcher with experience in participatory methods and community engagement. You'll have a degree in a relevant field and experience in qualitative and quantitative research methods. Experience working with young people is important, particularly creating safe spaces where they feel heard. Strong communication and organisational skills are key, in addition to managing timelines while building relationships with diverse stakeholders. We are also looking for someone who understands underserved communities experiencing systemic racism in East London. The role requires UK right to work eligibility.
