We are seeking a Lecturer (Teaching) in Interdisciplinary Race, Gender and Postcoloniality to cover a period of maternity leave. The post holder will be expected to produce original contributions on interdisciplinary race, gender and postcoloniality, and have expertise in interdisciplinary pedagogy.

The postholder will convene undergraduate module BASC0042 Race, Gender and Feminism, and BASC0053 Approaches to Interdisciplinarity, a core module on the MASc in Creative Health. The postholder will also supervise Dissertation projects and undertake other teaching as required. The postholder will also act as a Personal Academic Tutor for students primarily on the Cultures pathway on the BASc programmes.

The post is based at the Bloomsbury campus, but travel to the UCL East campus will be required for teaching the BASC0053 module and other departmental activities.

This post is full-time and available from 5 January 2026 until 23 December 2026. We are willing to consider a job share.

The fullt-time role meets the eligibility requirements for a skilled worker certificate of sponsorship or a global talent visa under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore, UCL welcomes applications from international applicants who require a visa. If this role is offered on a part-time basis, then it will not be eligible for visa sponsorship.

The postholder will be hold a PhD degree in any interdisciplinary area relevant to interdisciplinarity and interdisciplinary race, gender and postcoloniality. Educational experience of teaching and curriculum development in interdisciplinarity and interdisciplinary race, gender and postcoloniality is essential.

Previous experience of teaching, research and engagement in a university department is desirable

The postholder should also have experience of working with academic departments across sciences, humanities and social sciences and the ability to mentor students.
