About the Role
Applications are invited for a BHF-funded Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the laboratory of Dr Fiona Lewis-McDougall within the Centre for Microvascular Research. This is a unique opportunity for enthusiastic early-career researchers to become part of a team that is focused on understanding the effect of ageing on stem cell regenerative potential for cardiac repair and regeneration. The project aims to dissect how metabolic dysregulation impairs the trajectory of human induced pluripotent stem cell-cardiomyocyte (hiPSC-CM) differentiation using molecular biology, metabolomics and electrophysiology approaches. Age-related metabolites will be targeted to improve the efficiency of generating functional hiPSC-CMs to improve therapeutic options for aged patients. The results of this study will have significant potential for advancing the clinical impact of hiPSC-based therapies.
About You
We seek outstanding, self-motivated, and ambitious junior researchers committed to pursuing a scientific career. Demonstrable knowledge and a PhD (or close to completion) in the field of stem cell biology is essential. Previous experience in cardiovascular biology, molecular biology and electrophysiology is desirable.
