This post is based at our partner institution, Communication University of China, in Beijing in China.
About the Role
This is a great opportunity to join Nottingham Trent University as a key member of the team delivering Academic English provision to students enrolled on our established Sino-UK Joint BA programme in Media Communications, and our Masters Programmes in Broadcast Journalism, Media and Globalisation and Museum and Heritage Development, with Communication University of China (CUC).
Your role will be to teach English for Academic Purposes (EAP) to students in the first and second year of their 4-year dual award programme, and to students in the first year of their 2-year Masters programme. As part of the Academic English team, you will prepare and deliver EAP classes for up to 16 hours per week on campus at CUC in Beijing, support students through 1-1 and group tutorials, assess students’ performance formatively in class and through summative assessments, and work closely with co-tutors and the leadership team in the UK and China to ensure the success of the programmes.
You would be based at CUC in Beijing, working as part of a small team there and maintaining regular contact with the NTU team in the UK. To support teaching and learning, you would need to be in China for a minimum of two periods of a minimum of 90 days each academic year, with these periods being aligned to CUC’s academic calendar.
If you have previous experience of EAP teaching in a higher education context, experience of teaching large groups of learners, with knowledge of curriculum developments, contemporary teaching practices, and an ability to transfer this knowledge into supporting our collaborative partnership with CUC, then we would like to hear from you.
For more details, please take a look at the role profile. We'll still consider applications even if you don't meet every single one of the requirements, so don't be put off if you don't match them perfectly.
