We are now offering up to 4 full-time Clinical Teaching Fellow (CTF) positions for medically trained applicants seeking experience in medical education. These roles are ideal for clinical trainees looking to broaden their skills in teaching and curriculum development. Please note, this post does not normally count towards clinical training requirements.

Role Overview:

Working in a dynamic, supportive MBChB team, the CTF will primarily support Years 1 and 2 students by facilitating small-group tutorials and clinical skills sessions. There may also be involvement in teaching activities for Years 3–5. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Contributing to curriculum development (e.g., electives and assistantships)
  • Supporting admissions and assessment processes
  • Acting as a Personal Tutor
  • Developing teaching resources and delivering lectures
  • Participating in programme management and faculty development

CTFs will receive full training and teaching materials. Those staying for a second year will be supported to complete a PG Certificate/Diploma/Masters in Higher Education, depending on prior qualifications. Opportunities to engage in collaborative evaluation or research projects are also available.

Eligibility and Application:

Applicants must have completed FY2 and/or core training and not be entering specialty training this academic year. Candidates are encouraged to discuss the role with their Training Programme Director before applying. Aston Medical School will liaise with local NHS Trusts to facilitate one clinical session per week for successful applicants.

A strong interest in undergraduate education and a collaborative, cross-disciplinary approach are essential.

To apply, please submit an online application and upload your CV.

We encourage informal conversations prior to interviews. For further information or to arrange a discussion, contact Dr Claire Stocker at c.stocker@aston.ac.uk.
