About the role:
You will be managing all aspects of the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) facility including operational, financial and strategic planning.

What you would be doing:
Your specialist expertise will deliver a world-class service to both internal, external users and commercial partners. You will also support other facility managers, providing appropriate cover during annual leave, sickness, commensurate with the grade.
What we are looking for:
An individual who can manage all aspects of the NMR facility, to include:
- Oversee the NMR facility to ensure delivery of a first-class research service, managing operations relating to the needs of all instruments and clients (internal and external), including managing workload to ensure smooth running of the facility.
- Develop operational strategic plans to underpin the continued growth and reputation of the NMR facility both internally and externally.
- Provide leadership and expertise as appropriate to support both internal and external clients in the delivery of research projects ensuring cost neutrality
- Provide expert guidance and develop necessary documentation regarding experimental design to current and potential users, including variable temperature, kinetic analysis and data simulation and be able to adapt the current systems for changing requirements.
- Work closely with the Director of Research, NMR Academic Lead and Departmental Research Facilities Lead to seek out and apply for grant and other funding opportunities to develop the capability and versatility of the facility.
- Make recommendations to the Head of Technical Operations, NMR Academic Lead and Director of Research with respect to Horizon scanning and trend analysis.
- Prepare regular usage reports, develop and review pricing strategies to support self-sustainability of the facility via Transparent Approach to Costing (TRAC) and ICON.
- Overall responsibility for the safety, development and competency of all individuals accessing the facility-whether internal researchers, contractors, visitors. or external partners-through proactive leadership, rigorous standards and continuous improvement.
- Use own experience to maintain operational efficiency of instruments, to include equipment optimisation, Nitrogen and Helium filling.
- Manage all administrative duties for the NMR facility, including electronic booking and invoicing system (PPMS), managing external customer contracts (ICON) and financial planning.
- Maintain and develop risk assessments, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) associated with the facility.
