We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral Research Fellow to join our interdisciplinary project on how cryogenic OrbiSIMS, a cutting-edge mass spectrometry imaging technique, interacts with complex biomolecular structures.
You will join a dynamic, interdisciplinary team exploring the frontiers of mass spectrometry imaging and molecular modelling. As our Research Fellow, you will lead the computational arm of a Leverhulme Trust-funded project investigating how cryogenic OrbiSIMS interacts with complex biomolecular structures. Working closely with experimentalists and international collaborators, you will simulate fragmentation processes and model the influence of surface potential on secondary ion yields in the OrbiSIMS instrument. Your insights will help us decode how structure, charge, and instrument parameters influence OrbiSIMS spectra. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to transformative research in analytical chemistry, biophysics, and structural biology, while developing your own expertise in a supportive and innovative environment.
In this role, you will lead the computational strand of the project, applying molecular simulations, data analysis, and machine learning to uncover how molecular structure, charge, and surface potential influence OrbiSIMS spectra. You will work closely with experimentalists and international collaborators, contributing to high-impact research in analytical chemistry, structural biology, and biophysics.
We welcome applicants from a range of backgrounds, including computational chemistry, biophysics, molecular modelling, or data science. If you are excited by interdisciplinary research and want to develop new skills while contributing to a transformative scientific project, we encourage you to apply, even if you have not worked with OrbiSIMS or RNA before.
