The Opportunity
The Warren Lab has an opportunity for a research-focused role in the area of insect rearing for two years. The lab-focused role will be a combination of physiology, state-of-the-art Electron Microscopy imaging, basic molecular biology techniques. Data analytical and programming skills such as Dragonfly software and Rstudio/ Matlab are preferred but not essential. The ability to travel internationally is essential for the role for Focused-Ion Beam Scanning Electron Microscopy training, fieldwork and attendance at an international conference.
The post holder/successful candidate will have a degree in a biological or physiological discipline (physicists with laboratory experience are encouraged to apply). The post holder will need to have fine dissection skills, which will be tested as part of the application process. Job share of this role is possible if two candidates wish to work part-time and have different skills for the role.
Your work will contribute to an understanding of the function and evolution of insect auditory and proprioceptive organs (known as chordotonal organs). You will be expected to work closely with the Warren lab to produce high-quality publications and engage with other researchers within the School of Life Sciences and internationally.
