The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is one of the world’s leading public health universities. Philanthropy is critical to us achieving this mission and as such, we are looking for an experienced and motivated relationship builder to join us as our new Philanthropy Officer.
As the successful candidate you will be a key member of the Philanthropy Team working closely with the Head of Philanthropy, the Director of Development & Alumni Relations, and your team members to ensure the future success of our Development and Alumni Relations Office (DARO) team.
The successful applicant will hold a minimum of a second-class honours degree (or have equivalent experience) and be experienced in building philanthropic relationships with a mixed portfolio of charitable trusts, companies and individuals. They will have a proven track record of securing gifts at five-figure level, experience of working in results-oriented environments, and demonstrate a record of meeting personal KPIs and fundraising targets. Strong technical skills are essential, including advanced use of relational databases (such as Raiser’s Edge) and Microsoft Office packages (particularly Excel). A sound knowledge of data protection principles, legal requirements, and ethical fundraising practice is essential, as is an understanding of key philanthropic organisations and networks in the UK and internationally. The post is full-time 35 hours per week, 1 FTE and permanent.
The salary will be on the LSHTM salary scale, Grade 5 in the range £39,984 - £45,728 per annum pro-rata (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London.
