About the Role
The Humanities Division is seeking a full-time Finance Officer to join the Divisional Finance Shared Service team on a 1-year fixed term basis to cover a period of maternity leave. You will provide dedicated support for the financial operations of the Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies (AMES).
The post will work closely with the Head of Administration and Finance (HAF) at AMES in taking responsibility for the financial operations. Responsibilities will include: carrying out period end procedures, monitoring financial position, day-to-day management of core finance functions, preparing budgets and forecasts, provide financial support for research grants, advise on utilisation of funds, supervise the work of finance assistant, provide financial advice as and when required and ensure all duties are carried out in compliance with University’s financial regulations.
About you
We are looking for a friendly, professional and highly motivated team player who excels at providing financial information for a non-finance audience. You will be educated to degree level or equivalent, either hold or be working towards AAT qualification or equivalent, with significant previous experience in financial administration, preparing finance reports and developing financial processes. You will have accomplished IT skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills. You will have strong organisational skills with demonstrable experience of prioritising a varied workload and meeting deadlines using your own initiative and with minimal supervision, with excellent attention to detail in your work. You will have the ability to establish effective working relationships with staff, both academic and administrative, at all levels, remaining calm and patient under pressure.
