Main duties and responsibilities

The Careers & Employment Service are seeking a motivated candidate to join our innovative Career Development Team, providing tailored support services including guidance, placements, work experience and opportunities, to University of Hertfordshire students and graduates. We are an ambitious team focused on student outcomes and creating opportunities for all. We offer flexible work locations across our two campuses, including within our peer-led Careers Studio. 

The Careers Projects and Events Officer (Career Development Team) will work closely with the peer-to-peer element of our work, our student Career Coaches, maintaining work rotas, collecting pay claims, and general liaison as required. You will work closely with the Careers Information Officer to provide marketing and communications initiatives for the department, including contributing to the content of social media channels and other digital/physical forms of marketing as required. You will be involved in the organisation and running of careers events and projects contributing to special projects such as Freshers’ Fair, and in school delivery, ensuring all aspects of support are considered.

Skills and experience required

You should have experience of providing a front-line service to clients/customers, experience working with key stakeholders and experience of communicating in a variety of formats to different audiences. You must demonstrate strong communication skills and be able to demonstrate a good understanding of customer care, including a polite, helpful and confident telephone manner. You should have good practical IT skills, including the use of MS Office (Windows, Excel, and PowerPoint), databases and other common computing applications: email, internet, social networking sites and have a methodical approach/attention to detail. You will work calmly and systematically in a busy environment dealing with conflicting priorities with minimum supervision. 

Qualifications required

You will be educated with a minimum of A-Levels or equivalent, or proven professional work experience.
