The role
The School of EEME is looking for a proactive and detail-driven Personal Assistant to support the Director of one of our Research Groups; the Smart Internet Lab—a world-leading research facility delivering cutting-edge projects in collaboration with industry, government, and academia.
This role will provide high-quality executive assistance to the Director in a fast-paced, thriving research facility delivering cutting-edge research and high-profile research projects. The role holder will be part of team of professional services staff supporting the Smart Internet Lab community of over 100 academics and researchers, enabling them to deliver world-leading research.
The Smart Internet Lab is one of the UK’s most renowned Information and Communications Technology research centres delivering research on the future of internet technologies and telecommunications.
What will you be doing?
You will manage a complex and dynamic diary and coordinate high-level communications with high-profile stakeholders across sectors including research collaborators, funders, industry, and government representatives.
You will work in a busy team and be responsible for organising a busy international travel schedule, events and lab visits with seamless execution. You will be the Director’s first point of contact, handling queries with professionalism and initiative, impeccable attention to detail and a proactive, can-do attitude. You will be responsible for maintain the Director’s accurate records and ensure data compliance, including making purchasing and reconciling the Director’s expenses using the University’s online systems. In your role you may be asked to provide occasional administrative support to the Smart Internet Lab team.

You might already be working in a role providing personal assistant support to a Senior Executive/Director level or have previous experience in this kind of role.
