The University of Glasgow is seeking to appoint two open-ended Lectureships in Digital Humanities. These appointments will support the delivery of our exciting new postgraduate taught programme in Digital Humanities. The lectureships will be based in Information Studies within the School of Humanities and will contribute to other programmes within this Subject Area (covering Library, Archive and Museum Studies, as well as Digital Humanities).
We welcome candidates with strong Digital Humanities research expertise and a commitment to innovative postgraduate teaching. The successful applicant will contribute to curriculum development, teaching delivery, and the continued growth of our Digital Humanities provision within Information Studies and in the College of Arts & Humanities more broadly.
The College of Arts & Humanities at Glasgow has an established reputation for excellence in postgraduate teaching and research in Digital Humanities. Our new Digital Humanities programme builds on this strength, offering students the opportunity to develop expertise at the intersection of humanities scholarship and digital methods. The programme equips students with both theoretical understanding and practical skills in computational approaches to cultural heritage, textual analysis, data visualisation, and digital archiving.
The lectureships will be based in the Subject Area of Information Studies, which sits within the School of Humanities (Archaeology, Celtic & Gaelic, Classics, History, Information Studies, Philosophy). The College of Arts & Humanities also comprises the Schools of Modern Languages and Cultures, Critical Studies, and Culture & Creative Arts. There are strong links between the four Schools, with scope for further development by the appointed lecturers.
The University holds a leading place worldwide in the research and teaching of the Arts and Humanities. The successful applicant will undertake research of international excellence in Digital Humanities and contribute to learning and teaching on the Digital Humanities PGT programme and other Information Studies programmes. They will also contribute to knowledge exchange activities relative to their research and teaching and undertake administration and service activities in line with the strategic objectives of the School.
We value diversity and especially encourage applications from women, disabled and ethnic minority candidates.
This post is full time (35 hours per week) and open ended.
