Are you passionate about teaching Forensic Science and research? Do you want to collaborate to deliver and contribute hight quality student-led teaching? If so, this is the role for you.

The School of Natural Sciences is seeking to appoint an exceptional Lecturer to join their academic team. The role will also be responsible for administrative and support activities, working collaboratively towards School and University aims. The successful applicant will provide innovative and engaging teaching to students on programmes in the School of Natural Sciences, alongside research in Forensic Science. A passion to contribute to the continued development and enhancement of our teaching portfolio would also be an advantage. We particularly welcome applicants with backgrounds relating to ballistics but would strongly urge those with experience in other areas of forensic science to also apply.

The role is offered on an Education and Research (E&R) contract, appropriate for candidates with a strong research record and trajectory, contributing high quality outputs in the relevant field, and able to enhance the University’s research profile for the subject area. 

As Lecturer in Forensic Science you can expect to be involved in:

  • Delivering and contributing to the design of high quality, demand-driven and student-centred teaching in a variety of settings, Including developing own teaching and learning support materials, methods and approaches to meet the learning objectives and requirements of the programme.
  • Assessing students’ work, monitor progress and provide feedback and guidance. 
  • Undertaking an independent research programme, including supervision of research staff and students, which contributes to the overall research strategy of the University of Kent. 

What will you bring to the role?

  • PhD in Forensic Science, or equivalent experience/qualification 
  • Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Education-
  • Experience in the development and delivery of undergraduate teaching and assessment in a higher education setting
  • An emerging record of international excellence in research commensurate with career stage and experience of producing high quality research outputs
