We are seeking to appoint a Head of Pharmacometrics to join the Wellcome Trust Mahidol University Oxford Tropical Medicine Research Programme (MORU) a world-leading partnership conducting research on infectious diseases of global importance. Based at the Mahidol Oxford Research Unit (MORU) within the Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University, Bangkok, this position offers an exciting opportunity to lead a multidisciplinary pharmacometric research team at the forefront of tropical medicine and infectious disease research.
The MORU Tropical Health Network conducts clinical and public-health research aimed at developing practical, affordable interventions to improve health in resource-limited settings. The Pharmacology group within MORU carries out translational and clinical pharmacology studies, particularly pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) modelling of anti-infective drugs, in collaboration with research teams across Asia and Africa.
You will be responsible for leading and managing the pharmacometric research group, ensuring the successful delivery of its projects and research outputs. This includes developing PK/PD models using both clinical and pre-clinical data, supporting clinical trial analyses, and advancing novel pharmacometric methods. You will guide and mentor team members, oversee study design and timelines, contribute to scientific publications and grant applications, and present findings to MORU leadership and collaborators. You will also foster international collaborations, strengthen partnerships within the MORU network, and help train the next generation of pharmacometricians and clinical pharmacologists.
It is essential you hold a PhD/DPhil in a relevant discipline with post-doctoral research experience, and have a proven track record of leadership in managing multi-disciplinary research teams. You should have extensive expertise in nonlinear mixed-effects modelling (PK/PD modelling) and a strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals. Experience developing independent research projects, securing research funding, and communicating complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences is essential. You will need excellent organisational skills, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and a commitment to working collaboratively within an international, cross-cultural environment. A willingness to provide training and support to colleagues and students is also key to this role.
Applications for this vacancy should be made online and you will need to upload a supporting statement and CV. Your supporting statement must explain how you meet each of the selection criteria for the post using examples of your skills and experience. Please restrict your documentation to your CV and supporting statement only. Any other documents will be requested at a later date.
This position is offered full time on a fixed term contract until 30 September 2028 and is funded by Wellcome CORE Award.
