The Faculty of Science and Technology is looking to recruit a full-time Technician to work within the Natural Sciences technical team. Candidates should have a good practical background in Biosciences to support developments taking place in the curriculum and research, and a good understanding of the relevant health and safety regulations and practices. Responsibilities will include technical preparation for practical sessions, deliver in-class specialist technical support, assist in the planning and delivery of practical laboratory sessions, placing orders for consumables, assist with student projects, assist with outreach activities and other similar duties. The post-holder will also contribute to the overall running of the technical department: assessing resources and consumables, receiving deliveries and have delegated responsibility to ensure the safe running of assigned laboratories.
To be considered for this position, applicants must have:
- A degree in Biosciences (for example: Biology/Biochemistry or a related discipline) or professional equivalent
- Good practical experience within Bioscience areas
- Excellent communication skills
- A good understanding of the relevant health and safety regulations and practices.
