The Glasgow School of Art (GSA) is internationally recognised as a leader in studio-based education. Our studios and workshops are the heart of GSA – spaces where collaboration, experimentation, and innovation thrive across disciplines.

We are seeking enthusiastic and committed Studio Assistants to join our Technical Support team on a bank system. This flexible arrangement means you will receive initial training (in First Aid, Fire Marshall duties, and Manual Handling) to enable a quick start when a vacancy becomes available.

As a Studio and Workshop Assistant, you will:

  • Act as a reliable first point of contact for students, offering a friendly, approachable, and supportive presence.
  • Provide guidance and basic advice to students working across Design, Fine Art, and Architecture.
  • Support the wider Technical Support team by developing knowledge of our workshop facilities and assisting students in using them safely.
  • Maintain studio and workshop spaces, including housekeeping tasks and disposal of specialist waste.
  • Uphold safety standards as a trained First Aider and building Fire Marshal (training provided if not already held).

Working hours will be variable but aligned with our 2 current shift patterns:

o    Monday – Thursday: 3.30pm – 9.15pm
o    Friday 3.30pm – 9.15pm & Saturday: 9.00am – 5.00pm

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Have an interest in, and some experience of, Design, Fine Art, or Architecture.
  • Are approachable, reliable, and able to support students in a variety of creative settings.
  • Are proactive, responsible, and committed to maintaining a safe and productive learning environment.
  • Hold a valid First Aid certificate (or be willing to train).

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of one of the UK’s most dynamic art schools, supporting students in the creative process while gaining valuable experience in a collaborative studio environment.

Closing date for submission of completed applications:  Thursday 30th October 2025, at 23:59pm (BST).
