ATU’s JANUS Research Centre for HPC, AI and Emerging Technologies is seeking a highly motivated Graduate AI Engineer (Research Assistant) for ATU’s AI Engineering team within the EU-funded ONEHEALTH project, a €9.85M PEACEPLUS cross-border programme. ONEHEALTH brings together Catalyst, Queen’s University Belfast, ATU, Tyndall, University of Galway, and HIRANI to create an AI-driven Life & Health Sciences ecosystem.
The Graduate AI Engineer will provide hands-on support to the ONEHEALTH project’s AI Engineering team, focusing on data preparation, coding tasks, and assisting with prototype development for SMEs in human and agri-health. This is a development role, offering opportunities to build applied AI/ML skills in a collaborative cross-border research environment.
Please note: The postholder will be based at the ATU Donegal, Letterkenny Campus.
Essential Qualifications
Minimum
- Honours Bachelor’s (NFQ Level 8) or Master’s (Level 9) in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
- Strong coding and data-handling skills, with clear interest in applied AI/ML.
- Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
Desirable
- Relevant project work, internships, or applied experience.
- Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks, cloud/HPC environments, or data handling tools.
- Interest in health or agri-health applications.
