Do you want to join a dynamic and award-winning team to help enhance the public understanding of the US and its global role by supporting the delivery of a programme of high-profile events with a diverse range of topics and speakers? 

The Events Manager plays a key role in promoting and enhancing the reputation of the LSE Phelan United States Centre as a hub and convenor for global expertise, analysis, and commentary on America and its role in the world. 

The primary focus of this role will be to lead in all aspects of the Phelan US Centre’s events programme. This will include:  

  • Enhancing and implementing the Centre’s public events strategy to maximize engagement with academic, student and lay audiences.
  • Leading on the management and delivery of the Centre’s events programme, including public lectures, faculty workshops, and seminar series.  
  • Helping to deliver the Centre Director’s international conferences and other programming and initiatives that advance US-centred research and facilitate university partnerships with US and other international institutions.  

This is a demanding post requiring an enthusiastic and highly competent person able to multi-task, prioritise and to work to deadlines, and contribute to strategic planning. The post-holder must be proactive in their approach to their duties and be able to work with minimum supervision. 

The responsibilities of the post will entail substantial work outside of ‘core’ working hours, primarily evenings but also some weekends. Time off in lieu (TOIL) is ordinarily available for out of hours work.
