We are seeking an IT technician to join our support teams on West Cambridge site. You will work with the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy 3 days per week www.msm.cam.ac.uk and the Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology 2 days per week www.ceb.cam.ac.uk.
You will be involved in customer service support and respond to IT queries. You will carry out all the functions that support the setup of hardware and installation of software, identify and resolve network problems, carries out operational procedures, including network configuration, installation and maintenance, contributes to the implementation of planned maintenance or installation of IT infrastructure.
The successful candidate will be used to working in a busy environment whilst maintaining high levels of technical support. Previous experience of working in an operational level to deliver a technical solution within an IT support team is essential. However, we are keen to receive applications from candidates who are interested in broadening their skills with a willingness to learn the many aspects of IT support. The role involves day-to-day contact with academic and administrative staff and students and requires the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people.
The successful candidate will be highly organised and possess methodical working methods. On the job training in use of the University's IT systems can be provided.
