Research Assistant in Lymphoid Tissue Immunology

 

We are seeking a Research Assistant to join our research group focused on understanding the distribution of lymphoid cells, especially B cells, across human tissues at the Kennedy Institute in the University of Oxford,  working within the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences. The research group utilises transplant organ donor tissue for high-plex spatial phenotyping, spatial transcriptomics, multi-modal single-cell genomics, and ex vivo slice culture systems to investigate the balance between germinal centre and extrafollicular regions. The post would suit someone with prior hands-on wet lab experience working with microscopy, who also has an interest in single-cell genomics and spatial transcriptomics.

 

You will process and analyse human tissue samples for clinical studies within the research group and use specialist scientific equipment in a laboratory environment for protocols such as spatial transcriptomics, qPCR/dPCR, immunofluorescence microscopy, and flow cytometry. You will also contribute to wider project planning, including ideas for new research projects. You will also have close interactions with the Coles, Buckley and Dendrou research groups. 

 

You must hold a Bachelor’s Degree (or Master’s) in immunology/biochemistry/biology or equivalent. You must have substantial experience with microscopy especially cryosectioning OCT-embedded tissues. Experience and knowledge of standard laboratory assays including qPCR and flow cytometry is essential. Experience with single-cell transcriptomics library preparation, as well as experience with basic bioinformatics analysis, is desirable.
