This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the direction of a new research group, and supervise PhDs and Masters’ students. We are looking for an independent postdoc who wants to explore both the PI’s research directions as well as their own.
Reporting to the Principal Investigator, James Whittington, the post holder will be a member of a research group with responsibility for carrying out research for understanding the learned algorithms in brains and machines. The post holder will provide guidance to less experienced members of the research group, including postdocs, research assistants, technicians, and PhD and project students.
The post is full-time and funded until 31 October 2030.
The successful candidate will have completed a PhD/DPhil in a relevant field, and have demonstrable related experience. They will possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to work within the research programme and be able to contribute ideas for new research projects and research income generation. They must also be able to manage their own academic research and associated activities and contribute to publications/presentations. Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write for publication, present research proposals and results, and represent the group at meetings are also required. Experience of independently managing a discrete area of a research project would be desirable.
The closing date for applications is 12.00 midday on 01 Dec 2025 and only applications received by this date will be considered. Interviews will be held on 08 Dec 2025 or shortly thereafter.
