A culturally rich university with a palpable commitment to the public good, it strives to maintain a stimulating and inclusive environment where staff and students are able to thrive.
Faculty/Directorate
The Faculty of Arts, Design and Humanities and its School of Humanities and Performing Arts are home to innovative and sector-leading courses, geared towards the practical application of knowledge, and informed by partnerships with the creative and cultural industries. The School is a research-intensive division of DMU, with respected scholars and practice-based researchers within the Research and Innovation Institutes of Global Challenges and Cultures, and Arts, Design and Performance. It is also home to the Centre for English Language Learning. The Creative Practice cluster has a strong focus on innovation, creativity and practice, supported by sector-leading facilities. The Humanities cluster encourages intellectual ambition and offers programmes of study that interpret and interrogate multiple aspects of culture, and the Cultural Management cluster focuses on management of festivals, arts, tourism, hospitality and sport, within which the Arts and Festivals Management programme is the longest-running degree course of its kind in the UK and boasts enviable industry links. It is also ranked 2nd in the Guardian 2025 league table for Hospitality, Events and Tourism. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our distinctive team and help grow our burgeoning reputation in the fields of events and tourism.
The School is delivering its courses in block mode, enabling a dual focus on concentrated instruction and dedicated time for research.
