The opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a committed and motivated Library Assistant to join our friendly teams based across High Holborn and Lime Grove, on a full-time, permanent basis.
As a member of the Library Services team, you will contribute to the development of high-quality and student-focused library services which supports the academic activities of the University.
Working collaboratively as part of a dynamic team, you will participate in both front-line and administrative duties. You will assist users with initial information enquiries in person and online using our live chat service ASK. This includes helping with the use of Library materials, dealing with account queries, and supporting students with general purpose software.

The role will be working 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7 hours per day. Normal working hours will be between 9.00am to 6.00pm but there can be a requirement to work any time during our 8.30am to 8.30pm core hours. You will be required to work a variety of 9.00am starts or 6.00pm closes each week.
There might be limited opportunities to work from home dependent on operational needs, but onsite working will be the main focus for this role.
About you
We are looking for someone with a compassionate and student-centred approach and as this is a dual site role, you’ll need to be flexible and adaptable to changing service needs along with a strong ability to collaborate.
You should have relevant library or customer service experience, and formal training to post 16 level. You will be a good communicator with excellent written skills and possess good IT skills, including a familiarity with Microsoft Office. Working in a team, you will be capable of providing a positive and responsive customer service.
Knowledge and experience within a Higher Education institution is desirable, but not essential.
